Dr Yasu Takao takes the stage at GP19
One of our popular GPs, Dr Yasu Takao, recently represented us at the GP19 conference held by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
Held in Adelaide on 24-26 October, GP19 brought together general practitioners from all across Australia to share knowledge, build networks and extend their skills.
As well as attending the event, Dr Takao also presented in the annual conference’s inaugural “PitchFest” session.
In this session, 10 selected teams each presented, explained and defended an innovative solution they’d come up with to answer a challenge in Australian healthcare.
Examining, questioning and judging each innovation was a “Shark Tank” panel of medical professionals.
Delivered jointly with NSW-based GP Dr Bronwen Spalding, Dr Takao’s presentation revolved around Aridocs.net - an artificial intelligence (AI) that helps GPs improve their workflow.
Out of the 80 entrants and 10 finalists, Aridocs.net placed 3rd overall and received an honourable mention.
As well as consulting patients at Hawthorne Clinic (in both English and Japanese) and developing digital solutions, Dr Takao is also active in the Mater Refugee Complex Care Clinic (MRCCC) which provides medical services to asylum seekers and people from refugee backgrounds.
