Welcoming Dr Ruth Best
Hawthorne Clinic is excited to welcome Dr Ruth Best to the team.
Dr Best obtained her vocational registration with the College of General Practitioners in 1986 following her graduation from the University of Queensland (1980). Now with over 30 years of General Practice experience, Dr Best has worked both as a locum in Brisbane and Central Queensland and as a resident GP in the Redlands.
As a GP, Dr Best specialises in women’s health - often for multiple generations of the same family. Her interest in women’s health has focuses in contraception, IUD insertion and breast disease.
When not working as a GP, Dr Best has pursued a love of teaching for nearly 20 years. She has taught on medical topics at the University of Queensland and is currently a tutor at Bond University.
Her interest in education means she also has a publishing credit as a contributing author and the assistant to the editors of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Women's Health (Cambridge University Press, 2003) – a textbook on women’s health throughout the stages of life.
